Towards a Model of Intercultural Communicative Competence in Iranian EFL Context: Testing the Role of International Posture,Ideal L2 Self,L2 Self-Confidence,and Metacognitive Strategies

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to present a model of intercultural communicative competence (ICC) by incorporating international posture, motivational disposition (ideal L2 self), second language (L2) self-confidence, and metacognitive learning strategies. To this end, 150 Iranian L2 learners, selected through convenience sampling procedure, took part in the research. The findings of structural equation modelling revealed that the proposed model showed adequate fit to the data, implying that the model is appropriate in Iranian English as a foreign language (EFL) context. Also, the results indicated that learners with a high level of international posture are more likely to bridge the gap between their present and ideal selves. This was, additionally, argued that internationally oriented and ideally motivated learners become confident of their abilities to get engaged in interaction with L2 target communities. Furthermore, metacognitive learning strategies were found to be directly associated with ICC, implicating that the learners who continuously reflect on their learning and evaluate their performances are more prone to have a higher level of ICC. Finally, suggestions were offered for language teachers and policy-makers to inspire their learners to be more competent in communication with people of other cultures and languages.     

Dealing with disagreement: The roles of topic familiarity and disagreement explanation in evaluation of conflicting expert claims and sources

Learners may increasingly encounter conflicting expert reports. However, little is known about how they deal with this challenge. We examined how learners' familiarity with a controversial historical topic affects their epistemic judgments of conflicting expert claims and sources, the interplay of their claim and source evaluation strategies, and their meta-epistemic understanding of the legitimacy of the disagreement (absolutist, multiplist, and evaluativist perspectives). In two studies, topic familiarity increased agreement with belief-consistent expert claims and the perceived trustworthiness of the expert who presented these claims. Topic familiarity also impacted the coordination of evaluation strategies and led to greater reliance on knowledge-based validation. However, topic familiarity did not affect meta-epistemic understanding of the legitimacy of the controversy. In the second study, reading an explanation about reasons for disagreements between historians resulted in higher evaluativism. Teaching about expert disagreement may be a productive approach for promoting appreciation of the diversity of knowledge.     

中职体育教学中学生团队意识的培养探析

我国球场观众暴力遏制策略的研究

采用文献资料、访谈与现场研究等方法探讨我国球场观众暴力的遏制策略问题。在介绍中外防范与治理球场观众暴力主要方法的基础上，针对我国球场观众暴力防治工作现状与问题，提出了6条遏制策略。研究结果可供政府有关部门在防治球场观众暴力时参考。     

远程开放教育环境下教师的导学策略及实施

本文围绕远程开放教育环境下教师如何增强导学功能展开探讨，并借用认知建构主义学派的观点，分别针对“为什么学习”、“能否学习”、“学习什么”、“如何学习”等四个问题来提出具体的导学策略。并在此基础上，进一步分析了远程开放教育环境下成功实施导学策略的条件。希望本研究能给教师们以实践启迪。     

山东省中学体育师资现状与发展对策研究

综合运用各种调查法,对山东省中学体育师资现状进行抽样调查.结果显示:中学体育师资队伍与山东省学校体育发展是“大致相适应“而不是“完全适应“,中学体育教师队伍整体年龄、职称结构趋于合理,中学体育教师队伍学历达标率比其它学科偏低,中学体育教师的地位和待遇有所提高和改善.根据现状分析结果,针对现实问题提出了5点对策与建议.     

试析中国国家安全战略的选择

中国制定国家安全战略、国防政策和军事战略的前提，离不开对现阶段国家安全形势和背景的具体的、历史的考证。美国的单边主义和对华遏制、日本的背离和“台独”势力分裂国家的图谋是目前中国国家安全尤其需要重视的因素。因此中国的国家安全战略应是：保证必要的、足够的军事威慑，保持最大范围和最大可能的合作。     

谈谈大学英语听力课教学存在的问题及对策

笔者不久前以书面问卷的形式对学生不喜欢听力课的原因进行了调查。通过对问卷调查的对比分析，提出大学英语听力课教学相关的对策。

该文依据教育学相关理论,以现代教育技术为依托,尝试将网络资源与英语报刊阅读教学策略整合,从教学过程着手整合了多维信息处理、立体信息呈现、整体语篇解析、全息动态反馈等教学策略.这些教学策略在理论上突破了传统阅读教学的单一性和局限性,进一步拓展教学思路,旨在培养学生的英语报刊阅读能力.
